Man charged for spraying pepper-spray-like substance on TTC subway rider

A man has been charged for allegedly assaulting and spraying a man with a substance believed to be pepper spray during an unprovoked altercation on a TTC subway train.Toronto police say the incident happened around 10 p.m. on Feb. 28 when officers were called to Coxwell Subway Station in the Danforth.It’s alleged that two men were travelling eastbound on the Bloor-Danforth line between Donlands and Greenwood Stations when one man randomly sprayed another man in the face with an unknown, pepper-spray-like substance. Police said he was resprayed each time the victim stepped away from the attack.On Wednesday, police arrested 44-year-old Greg Ferris of Toronto. He was charged with administering a noxious substance and assault.He’s expected to appear in court on April 19.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — A swarm of earthquakes occurring over the past few weeks has intensified at a remote Alaska volcano dormant for over a century, a possible indication of an impending eruption.The Alaska Volcano Observatory raised the alert level to advisory status for Tanaga Volcano late Tuesday after the quakes became very vigorous.“We started seeing a whole lot of earthquakes occurring, one after the other, several per minute,” said John Power, a research geophysicist with the U.S. Geological Survey stationed in Anchorage at the Alaska Volcano Observatory. Gavin Newsom on Wednesday withdrew a $54 million contract with Walgreens after the pharmacy giant indicated it would not sell an abortion pill by mail in some conservative-led states.Newsom on Wednesday ordered state officials to not renew a contract with Walgreens to purchase specialty pharmacy prescription drugs for California’s prison health care system, including antivirual and antifungal drugs and medication used for congestive heart failure. Walgreens has gotten about $54 million from the contract, which expires April 30. 6-year-old girl dead, 4 others injured after semi-truck driver hits stopped car in Gary

GARY, Ind. — A six-year-old girl is dead and four others are injured after a semi-truck driver struck a car stopped on the Interstate early Wednesday morning in Northwest Indiana, according to police.The crash was reported around 1:30 a.m. about a mile and a half east of the Burr Street exit of Interstate 80/94. Man accused of stabbing his aunt to death in Gary The driver of the car, a 27-year-old woman, of Milwaukee, was stopped in the right lane when a semi-truck driver rear-ended the car, Indiana State Police Sgt. Glen Fifield said in a news release.Everyone in the car, two adults and three children, were taken to hospitals with life-threatening injuries, Fifield said. The six-year-old girl, who hasn't been identified, later died.
