MTA ends real-time service alerts on Twitter, says platform is 'no longer reliable' NEW YORK (WPIX) – New York's Metropolitan Transportation Authority, which provides public transportation services for millions of riders in the NYC metro area each day, has ended its real-time service alerts on Twitter, an agency official said in a statement Thursday night.MTA Acting Chief Customer Officer Shanifah Rieara blamed Twitter’s new policy of requiring a fee to use its application programming interface, also known as API. This interface is what allows the MTA to send out real-time service changes on the social media platform.“The MTA does not pay tech platforms to publish service information and has built redundant tools that provide service alerts in real-time. Those include the MYmta and TrainTime apps, the MTA’s homepage at MTA.info, email alerts, and text messages. Service alerts are also available on thousands of screens in stations, on trains, and in buses,” Rieara said. “The MTA has terminated posting service information to Twitter, effective immediately, as the rel...

NFL Draft: Gophers linebackers looking to follow in Jack Gibbens, Carter Coughlin’s footsteps

Published Fri, 22 Nov 2024 05:49:02 GMT

NFL Draft: Gophers linebackers looking to follow in Jack Gibbens, Carter Coughlin’s footsteps Jack Gibbens was a major source of pride within the Gophers football program last season, and with the NFL draft this weekend, the former U linebacker is an example for two players to try to replicate. In last year’s draft, Gibbens wasn’t picked but signed as a free agent with the Tennessee Titans. He impressed Titans coach Mike Vrabel with his intelligence and earned the nickname “Dr. Gibby.”While Gibbens didn’t make the team to start the season, he hung around on the practice squad and was ready to help the Titans in a playoff push to end the season. He had 28 tackles in the final five games, making two starts.Gophers linebacker Mariano Sori-Marin and defensive end/linebacker Thomas Rush are in a similar position this year. They might not hear their name called by the time the draft finishes Saturday, but they will be ready for their shot.“That embodies Gopher football,” Sori-Marin said of Gibbens’ rookie year. “That just goes to show how hard we prepare and how we truly value deta...
