(KRON) -- Thousands of people arrived at Alameda Point Sunday afternoon for an "unpermitted" sideshow, the Alameda Police Department said. Police were aware of the show, and APD had a group of officers focused on the event. Nearly 1,000 cars and 3,000 people were in attendance at the event, police said. (KRON) -- A 16-year-old boy was allegedly drunk behind the wheel of a BMW in Salinas when his BMW collided head-on into another vehicle, the Salinas Police Department said. "A DUI crash on Saturday night left a 33-year-old woman dead and three others with life-threatening injuries. The 16-year-old’s blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit," SPD wrote. The deadly wreck happened at 9:44 p.m. on North Davis Road near Hacienda Restaurant. There was a 31-year-old passenger inside the silver BMW with the teenager, police said. The boy lost control of the BMW, crossed over a center median into oncoming traffic, and collided head-on into a white Dodge Journey. according to SPD. The Dodge driver was critically injured, and a 33-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the Dodge, was killed. (KRON) -- Thousands of customers were without power Monday morning in Santa Clara after squirrels chewed through an electric cable, according to Silicon Valley Power. The outage was first reported shortly before 9 a.m. Monday.The outage, in the western part of the city, impacted some 3,840 customers. "A troubleshooter is responding," the power agency tweeted. Power was soon restored to 1,614 customers, while 2,226 remain without power. (CNN) — An Army Air Forces member who was killed 80 years ago during World War II has been identified and accounted for, and will be laid to rest in his Illinois hometown days after Memorial Day.Tech. Sgt. James Howie, who was 24 at the time, was a radio operator on a B-24 Liberator bomber on August 1, 1943, when it was hit by enemy anti-aircraft fire and crashed north of Bucharest, Romania, during Operation Tidal Wave, the US Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency said.After the war, Howie’s remains were never identified, the agency said.
