BEIJING (AP) — China has increased the number of countries that its big-spending tourists can visit by more than 70 following the lifting of its last COVID-19 travel restrictions. The decision comes as international flights to and from the country gradually return to their pre-pandemic levels. China implemented strict lockdowns and draconian travel controls within the country and closed its borders almost entirely after the virus was first detected in the central city of Wuhan in late 2019. Those restrictions began to be lifted late last year, but the government has been hesitant to resume issuing passports and allowing in foreign tourists, as well as giving its citizens the ability to travel abroad. The expanded options for travel began on Thursday.“The government agencies in charge will provide businesses in the tourism sector with the necessary guidance for the implementation,” the Foreign Ministry said. “At this moment, we would like to remind all outbound tourists to...At least 36 dead on Maui as fires burn through Hawaii, county reports

The European Commission has opened an in-depth investigation to assess, under the EU Merger Regulation, the proposed acquisition of Figma by Adobe. The Commission is concerned that the transaction may reduce competition in the global markets for the supply of interactive product design software and for digital asset creation tools.Furthermore, the Commission will further investigatewhether the transaction may foreclose rival providers of interactive product design tools by bundling Figma with Adobe's Creative Cloud suite. The Commission will now carry out an in-depth investigation into the effects of the proposed transaction to determine whether its initial competition concerns are confirmed. Dear Amy: I have twin nieces, age 29. We’ve always been close.Their dad (my brother) is an alcoholic known to draw unwanted attention to himself. You can imagine being teenagers and dealing with this challenge and embarrassment.I am the “gunkle” (gay uncle) who has always been their biggest cheerleader, helped financially for their education, the person they often came to for advice, etc. We’re super close, although we have always lived in different cities and now only see each other a couple of times a year.Last weekend one of my nieces (who has mentioned that I am one of the most important people in their life) attended a concert in another state. Her husband and I have our own (poor) opinions of one another. I have actively tried to repair the relationship but have not had any response from him.Anyway, to get to this concert, they literally had to drive within a mile from my home – both coming and going. She did not visit or let me know they would be nearby. The only reason I know...Latest news
